The 41st Chinese Control Conference (CCC 2022)

Plenary Panel Session 2

Title: Intelligent Monitoring and Control for Complex Systems (复杂系统智能监测与控制)

Chair: Min Wu, China University of Geosciences, China

Panelists: (By the alphabetic order of their surnames)

        Hua Geng (Tsinghua University, China)

Yu Kang (University of Science and Technology of China, China)

Wencao Xue (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China)

        Chunhui Zhao (Zhejiang University, China)

Abstract: The plenary panel session invites four distinguished scholars to share their research experience and original perspectives on “Intelligent Monitoring and Control for Complex Systems”. They will present the research progress and achievements on control and optimization of wind turbine clusters, comprehensive supervision of urban mobile source air pollution, extended state observer of more intelligence for uncertain systems, and intelligent monitoring for operating conditions of major equipment, and discuss some of the challenges and opportunities in these areas. Through the dialogue and interaction with these renowned experts, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of some fundamental and emerging issues in research and applications of intelligent monitoring and control for complex systems.

Hua Geng received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan,China, in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in control theory and application from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2008. From 2008 to 2010, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ryerson University, Toronto, ON, Canada. He joined Automation Department of Tsinghua University in June 2010 and is currently a full professor.

His current research interests include advanced control on power electronics and renewable energy conversion systems. He has authored more than 170 technical publications and holds more than 20 issued Chinese/US patents. He is the editors of IEEE Trans. on Energy Conversion and IEEE Trans. on Sustainable Energy, associate editors of IEEE Trans. on Industry Applications, IET Renewable Power Generation, Control Engineering Practice. He served as general co-chairs, track chairs and session chairs of several IEEE conferences. He is an IEEE Fellow and an IET Fellow, convener of the modeling working group in IEC SC 8A.

Yu Kang received his PhD degree in control science and engineering from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, China, in 2005.
