Abstract:Talent cultivation is always a very important task in universities. With the rapid development of automatic control technology, the contents and targets of talent cultivation related to automatic control have been changed. In this development forum, we have invited experts and scholars from well-known universities to introduce relevant reform and innovation measures in fields of new engineering innovation talents training, innovative automation talents training, emerging-engineering talents training, emerging engineering education, robotics talents training and aerospace automatic control talents training. This forum provides an opportunity for interested participants to interact with the experts in this field.

Title:Exploration and Practice of Cultivation Mode for Automation Specialty New Engineering Innovation Talents in the Intelligent Era

Abstract: This report will introduce the systematic exploration and practice of new engineering talent training reform based on analyzing the problems existing in the cultivation of engineering talents. It is planned to explore the reform from traditional engineering to new engineering from the aspects of curriculum system, training mode, teaching content and method, moral and professional education, practical innovation, teaching staff and management guarantee, etc., taking automation students from Shandong University as the research object.

Chenghui Zhang is a Chair Professor and Dean of the School of Control Science and Engineering at Shandong University. He is the founders and directors of National & Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy Conversion Technology, and the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center of Power Electronics, Energy Saving Technology and Equipment. He is the Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor, and the Fellow of Chinese Association of Automation (CAA). He also serves as Member of Teaching Committee of Higher Education of Ministry of Education. He was appointed as the leader of Innovation Research Group of Natural Science Fundation of China (NSFC) in 2018. His research focuses on optimal control of engineering, advanced power control of renewable energy, power electronics, and intelligent management of energy storage batteries. He has won two second prizes of National Science & Technology Progress Award of PRC in 2016 and 2020, as well as two second prizes of National Teaching Achievement Awards in 2014 and 2018. He has also won the Ho Leung Ho Lee science and Technology Progress Award in 2021and the China Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award in 2022.

Title: Exploration and practice of training innovative automation talents under the background of new engineering education

Abstract: The construction of emerging engineering education is a major action plan to continuously deepen the reform of engineering education. In this talk, the speaker grasps the prominent contradictions and main problems existing in the current training of automation talents, and expounds in detail the general idea, work framework, main measures and achievements of the college of intelligent systems science and engineering of Harbin Engineering University in building the training reform of automation innovative talents, as well as its specific measures on how to integrate new engineering concepts into engineering education practice, which has certain reference and guiding significance.

Yuxin Zhao is the dean of the college of intelligent systems science and engineering, Harbin Engineering University, director of the National Experimental Teaching Center for ship navigation and control, director of the engineering research center of the Ministry of education of navigation instrument, and leader of the innovation team in national key fields. He presided over more than 20 teaching and scientific research projects such as the new engineering teaching reform project and the National Natural Science Foundation. He won the first prize of teaching achievement of China automation society.

Title: Exploration and Practice on the Cultivation of Emerging-Engineering Talents of Automation Specialty

Abstract: Under the background of “Emerging-Engineering” education strategy, the College of Control Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University has designed a new undergraduate education program based on the one body, two wings, innovation-driven structure for Automation specialty. The reform of the new education system has been carried out in the aspects of synergistic development of traditional engineering and emerging engineering, optimization of curriculum system, reform of teaching methods, enrichment of teaching contents, cultivation of innovation ability, laboratory construction and internationalization cultivation, etc.

Dibo Hou is a professor and vice dean of the College of Control Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University. He is mainly engaged in research in the fields of advanced sensing technology, environmental monitoring and early warning, robot intelligent perception, etc. He has presided over more than 30 scientific research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Major Science and Technology Special Project, Zhejiang Province Key Research and Development Program, Zhejiang Province Science and Technology Program Project, etc. He is actively engaged in teaching reform, presiding over the construction of national first-class undergraduate major, leading the course Computer Control System Design and Practice as the first-class undergraduate course in Zhejiang Province.

Speaker:Meiping Wu, National University of Defense Technology, China

Title: Exploring and Practicing Emerging Engineering Education in the Control Discipline for Catching up The Intelligent Unmanned Trend

Abstract: Given the demand for competent personnel in future intelligent warfare, this paper analyses the challenges faced by control discipline education and proposes solutions. According to the required professional ability and quality, the knowledge structure and comprehensive practice courses of majors in the control discipline have been designed, where related techniques have been integrated into the innovation practice program. As a result, the students' ability to comprehensively use intelligent unmanned systems has been improved significantly.

Meiping Wu is a professor and PhD supervisor at National University of Defense Technology, Dean of the College of Intelligent Science and Technology, chief of the “Computer Hardware Technology and Control Series Courses” national teaching group, technological innovation leading talent of “Ten-Thousands Talents Program”. He also serves as member of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Automation Major of the Ministry of Education, Vice-Chairman of the Education Committee of the Chinese Society of Automation, Executive Director of China Automation Society, and received State Council special allowance.

He has been engaged in education and research in the fields of autonomous navigation and guidance, gravity measurement, intelligent unmanned system, etc. He has published more than 100 academic papers and co-published 12 textbooks and academic monographs. He has won the second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the first prize for teaching achievements of the Chinese Society of Automation.

Speaker: Xiaogang Zhang, Hunan University, China

Title: Experience sharing of teaching in robot field

Abstract: Industrial robots are the core of intelligent manufacturing. Cultivating high-level innovative talents in the field of robots is a major demand of Chinese economy. In recent years, some achievements have been made in the training of new engineering talents in the robot field. In the exploration of robot education, universities have made great efforts in value shaping, teacher construction, course teaching, comprehensive experiment and innovation and Entrepreneurship. Our teaching team has formed a value-lead training system in the robot field, and will share with you the experience of teaching.

Xiaogang Zhang received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in control theory and engineering from Hunan University, Changsha, China, in 1996, 1999, and 2003, respectively. He is currently a Professor and the Communist party secretary at College of Electrical and Information Engineering Hunan University. His research interests include modeling and optimal control of complex industrial processes, mage process, and pattern recognition.

Title: Reform of talent cultivation in the field of Aerospace Automatic Control

Abstract: In order to comprehensively improve the quality of talent cultivation on aerospace automatic control, we have formulated action plans for cultivating first-class undergraduate talents and postgraduate talents in School of Automation, Northwestern Polytechnical University. These action plans focus on the following aspects: adhering strong moral character in the education, reforming the mode of talent cultivation, strengthening student guidance and evaluation, constructing a high-level teaching team, creating first-class educational resources, building an open and collaborative education pattern, and strengthening organizational leadership. This report will introduce the characteristic measures and achievements of the School of Automation in implementing these action plans.

Zhunga Liu, is a professor in School of Automation, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). He obtained the Bachelor and Master degree from NPU in 2007 and 2010 respectively, and the Ph.D degree from Telecom Bretagne, France in 2014. Now he serves as vice dean in School of Automation, NPU. His current research interests mainly include information fusion, pattern recognitionand so on. He was awarded First prize of Shaanxi Provincial Science and technology He serves as Board of Director in The Belief functions and Applications society since 2017, and Program Committee Chair of 6th International Conference on Belief Functions (BELIEF 2021). He is the associate editor of IEEE TSMC.
